Divine healing (part 1)

This year has been a year of healing for me. I have experienced healing in so many different areas of my life: physically and emotionally. I will keep the emotional ones for later because I believe God is asking me to share my physical ones. I have shared two of my testimonies lately and I am shocked to hear some of my Christian friends responding with indifference. Like Darth Vader (Star Wars) says: “I find your lack of faith disturbing”. So, I will share my first story today and the second tomorrow or in a few days.

The Bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). And Jesus says that we only need faith like a mustard seed. But where does faith come from? The Bible says that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17) who is the Word of God? JESUS! I’ve come to realize that repeating “God heal me, God I believe, God heal me…” over and over again doesn’t produce faith. Faith comes from God. At some point, as you seek His face, God reveals His Word to you (Jesus) and you hear that word of faith that pushes to healing. Psalm 107 says “He sent His word and healed them”. It only takes one word from His mouth for healing to come.

So, 12 hours after landing in Chad, Africa in 2014 I got sick. I started to have chills, aches, and fever pretty rapidly. I was in bed for four days with high fever. I had a very mean case of bronchitis complicated by asthma. On the fourth day, I was lying on the coach and I was trying to rest but couldn’t fall asleep because I would wake myself up trying to get some air. It felt as if my lungs were shut. I was praying and worshipping God with the little strength I had and telling Him “God, I’ll worship you regardless of the circumstances but please, let me hear your voice”. I had received some encouraging words from friends and family and I knew people were praying for me.

As I was struggling to get air into my lungs, some friends from Louisiana sent me a picture of the devotional that they were reading to their children that morning (the interesting thing is that I couldn’t text pictures but I received them). The passage was from Mark 5:41 “Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement”. At the very moment my eyes read this verse, faith came. I heard God’s voice loud and clear like the sound of many waters and my lungs opened up. I literally felt divine air being breathed into my lungs. Faith came down from God’s word, Jesus, through His grace. I received it and I was healed. My fever left and I started to recover with normal breathing.

God is so good… wait on Him for that word of faith that will open the door for the blessing you are waiting for. More on this later!
